Join Pastor Brad Ormonde and the Elders of Harvest Christian Fellowship as we read through “The Disappearance of God” by R. Albert Mohler Jr.

As the book notes, “More faulty information about God swirls around us today than ever before. No wonder so many followers of Christ are unsure of what they believe in the face of the new spiritual openness attempting to alter unchanging truth. We need to know the truth to save ourselves from the errors that will derail our faith.”

Feel free to read and comment at your own pace, whether you comment by chapter, by thought or by chapters.

Here is the reading schedule that Pastor Brad and the Elders will be reading and commenting at:

By November 10 Chapters 1–6

By December 8 Chapters 7–12

By January 12 Chapters 13–18

By February 9 Chapters 19–23

Note: After your readings, please post your thoughts below that others may be encouraged…

  1. Mark Finnigan Said,

Chapter 1 “A Call for Theological Triage”

    Q. How do we deal with theological disagreements that come our way?

    A. Each one needs to be sorted through, weighing out each situation in its severity. Some will cause division, some boundaries and some just disagreements.

The first that will divide us is the essentials… such as the Trinity, deity of Christ, justified by faith alone and the authority of scripture.

The second is we can disagree on minors to where it causes boundaries/denominations but does not cause us to break fellowship.

The third order issue is where we can stay in close fellowship in the same church while disagreeing on interpretation of difficult text.

Bottom line, we need to approach each with balance and a humble heart…

  2. Mark Finnigan Said,

    Chapter 2 “Guarded through faith”

    Q. How can one be assured of there salvation?
    A. Assurance and confidence comes through His word (jn 6:37, jn 10:27-29, 2peter 1:10).
